Shock, helmet, hematoma: chef Gordon Ramsay recounts his serious bicycle accident

A nice scare. This is how famous British chef Gordon Ramsay felt. Saturday June 15, he posted a video on his Instagram account in which he says he was the victim of a serious bicycle accident in Connecticut in the United States. Known for his bloody attacks, the 57-year-old Scot appears there looking defeated and still in shock from his accident.

“This week, I had a very serious accident while cycling, I am fine,” reports the chef. Through this video, he above all wanted to send a message of prevention to his more than 17 million followers: “Wear a helmet”. “I am very grateful for my helmet which saved my life. » He thanks in passing “all the doctors, nurses and staff of the Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London” who took care of him.

“I’m lucky to be here”

He then reveals, by removing his cooking outfit, the impressive hematoma all over the left side of his body. “It really shook me and honestly, I’m lucky to be here,” he emphasizes. The man who is known for presenting Hells’ Kitchen, the show which inspired Philippe Etchebest’s Nightmare in the Kitchen, is at the head of several renowned establishments around the world, including three in France, in Versailles and Bordeaux.
