A violent head-on collision between two cars occurred this morning around 8:30 a.m. on the D231 in Ferques, near Marquise. The accident left 4 people seriously injured, including a 5-year-old girl. Unfortunately, the little girl died a few hours later.
Four people were involved in this accident. In the first vehicle were a young woman aged 27 and two children aged 10 and 5. The 5-year-old girl, in cardio-respiratory arrest when help arrived, was airlifted to the Lille CHR where she died a few hours later. The 27-year-old driver, seriously injured, was also airlifted to Lille after being extricated, the other 10-year-old girl was transported to the Boulogne hospital center.
In the second vehicle, the 64-year-old driver was extricated and then transported in serious condition to Boulogne hospital. One of the dogs in the vehicle died.
A large number of emergency resources were dispatched to the site this morning, 11 firefighters from Marquise, Boulogne, Marck and Ardres as well as the SAMU. The road was closed by the police during the intervention which lasted several hours. The busy axis was able to reopen at midday.
Four witnesses to the accident, including one who provided first aid to the 5-year-old girl, were seen by the firefighter nurse and then taken care of by the medical-psychological emergency unit.
An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of this dramatic accident.
