“I felt like someone had stabbed me”… with Piqué, Shakira felt the worst “pain of her life”

Two years after her breakup with Gerard Piqué, Shakira is finally able to come back from this painful episode and ready to move forward. In a long interview given to Rolling Stone, the 47-year-old star reflected on the crossing of the desert which followed her relationship with the 37-year-old footballer. In 2022, the singer discovered rumors that her partner was cheating on her with Clara Chia, 26, while the singer’s father was in intensive care.

Enough to fuel a very bitter breakup, and lead to “the greatest suffering I have ever known in my entire life”, she confides, to the point that it “sometimes prevented her from functioning”. A pain that the star feels in his flesh, literally.

“I felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest. The feeling was so real, almost physical. “I physically felt like I had a hole in my chest and someone could see through me,” Shakira adds.

Emptiness in place of the heart

We understand better the dark clip of Monotony, in which she depicts herself being shot in the chest, before going in search of her heart, ignoring the open wound running through her body. A choice that the star’s team did not approve of, who did not consider it necessary to expose themselves with such harsh images. But for Shakira, “they were authentic. That’s what I felt.”

But fans can rest assured: the star’s wound has healed well since then. “I rediscovered my charm, and I rediscovered my sexy side,” assures the one who is visibly done with the desire for revenge. Besides, she considers herself ready for an adventure. “What can I tell you, I like men. That’s the problem. I shouldn’t love them with everything that’s happened to me, but imagine how much I love men: I still love them,” she concedes.

On the other hand, a real relationship seems unthinkable to him for the moment. “I don’t think about that. How much space do I have for a man right now? I think my children should be very prepared for this, and their emotional and psychological well-being is the priority,” she assures.

Shakira therefore thinks above all of her sons Milan, 11 years old, and Sasha, nine years old, born from her relationship with Gerard Piqué.
