SENEGAL-SANTE / Saint-Louis regional hospital center: the reception service will be outsourced in 2025 (Director) – Senegalese press agency

Saint-Louis, June 25 (APS) – The director of the Saint-Louis regional hospital center, El Hadj Magatte Seck, has decided to outsource the reception service from next year to take into account the recommendations made by users in a satisfaction survey.

”We had to carry out a user satisfaction survey at the end of which there were recommendations and we decided to outsource reception from 2025,” said in an interview with the press Mr. Seck, emphasizing the desire of the hospital center ”to improve the service provided to the population”.

Concerning the relationship between doctor and patients, he indicated that an instruction was given to the establishment Medical Commission to make proposals along these lines.

He stressed that the hospital has been working for several years to improve the reception and orientation of patients which are crucial.

Regarding the delays recorded in the issuance of certificates of the type of death, he pointed out that “this is not a trivial act and not all doctors have the knowledge required to determine the cause of death”.

”The hospital makes a lot of sacrifices to support the populations otherwise, we were going to bring all the bodies to Dakar because we do not have a forensic doctor,” said Mr. Sarr, stressing that the hospital does a lot of efforts to satisfy the populations.

The director of the hospital center affirmed that ”only two doctors do it and are not always available”, adding that ”if we respected the deadlines for its delivery, the populations would suffer more”.

Concerning custody, he recalled that this point was the first he tackled when he was appointed director in 2022 by medicalizing it.

So the on-call duties have since been provided by senior doctors but they are always accompanied by student interns from the university with whom the hospital has signed an agreement.

For the case of hemodialysis, he stressed that the hospital also had to repair around thirty machines to care for patients because they were all broken down.

”The Hospital has released 49 million to repair the broken generators,” he said.

In his sermon last Friday, the Imam of the Ihsan du Nord mosque, Mouhamadou Abdoullah Cissé deplored the reception problems as well as other grievances encountered by users at the Saint-Louis regional hospital center.
