The Ministers of Equipment, Sarah Zafrani Zenzeri and of Economy and Planning, Feryel Ouerghi, signed, this Thursday, June 13, 2024, financing agreements with the European Investment Bank (EIB), in margin of the Investment Forum in Tunisia.

This funding will be dedicated to the realization of the road corridor project linking the governorates of Sfax and Kasserine, passing through the governorates of Kairouan and Sidi Bouzid.

Feryel Ouerghi recalled that a loan agreement of 203 million euros had been signed with the World Bank on March 26, 2024 to finance this project.

Indeed, a World Bank mission took place in Tunisia in March 2024, in order to evaluate the Kasserine/Sidi Bouzid/Sfax Corridor.

Following this mission, Alexandre Arrobbio, resident representative of the World Bank in Tunisia, affirmed that the world organization “is preparing to contribute to the financing of the Kasserine/Sidi Bouzid/Sfax Economic Development Corridor.”

He added that this Corridor “will reduce regional economic disparities, optimize road transport and facilitate access to financing for SMEs in the region”.

The Kasserine/Sidi Bouzid/Sfax Corridor is a splitting of the RN13 road via an expressway linking the three governorates.

Costing around 850 million dinars, the Corridor is financed by the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the state budget.
