During its operation to free four hostages in the central Gaza Strip, the Israeli army killed several other hostages held there, Hamas’s armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, said on Saturday.

GAZA, June 8 (Xinhua) — During its operation to free four hostages in the central Gaza Strip, the Israeli army killed several other hostages held there, Hamas’ military wing said Saturday , the Al-Qassam Brigades.

In a statement, the Al-Qassam Brigades denounced the Israeli military operation in the Nuseirat region in the central Gaza Strip as “a complex war crime”, saying that “the first to suffer” were the Israeli hostages.

“The operation will pose a great danger to enemy prisoners and will have a negative impact on their conditions and lives,” Abu Obaida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, wrote in the statement.

At least 210 Palestinians were killed and more than 400 others injured in Israeli airstrikes Saturday on the central Gaza Strip, where Israeli forces rescued four hostages kidnapped by Hamas in October 2023.

The Israeli army, police and intelligence service (Shin Bet) wrote in a joint statement that their fighters had attacked “a terrorist structure” in the region and freed four Israeli hostages.

The statement said the abductees were rescued alive in two separate areas in the heart of Nuseirat.

After the rescue of these four hostages, 120 Israeli hostages are still being held in Gaza, but 43 of them may be dead, according to the Israeli army.
