It's a flight that Matteo (first name has been changed) will never forget. Between France and the United States, this airliner co-pilot, originally from Salon, flew an Air France Boeing 777. And not just any one. At the beginning of October, the aircraft registered F-GNZE was named “Salon-de-Provence”. The name of the town is written on the front, near the doors of the plane.
“I discovered this nice surprise last week, when I was going to take the plane to New Yorkrelates this first officer. Arriving in front of the plane, I immediately saw its new name, even if the S was hidden by the boarding bridge. That's when the emotions started. I texted my sister, who was accompanying me on a long-haul flight for the first time. I made him believe that I had a plane assigned for us.“
Air France wants to “reconnect with a legendary tradition”
After naming an Airbus A350 “Aix-en-Provence” last December, Air France is giving the name of another Provençal town to one of its aircraft. “We decided to reconnect with this legendary traditionjustifies the company, by naming our planes after French cities.
