Volkswagen ID.7: the project is not dead for Canada and its price should be attractive

Against all expectations, the project to market the Volkswagen ID.7 in Canada is still active. And its price promises to be interesting.

  • The Volkswagen ID.7 is an electric sedan built on the MEB architecture.

  • It would become the third electric vehicle from the manufacturer to be sold in Canada with the ID.4 and ID. Buzz.

  • The price of a top-of-the-range Volkswagen ID.7 should be similar to that of an equivalently equipped ID.4.

Earlier this fall, Canada’s Volkswagen dealers gathered in Orlando. During this congress, there was particular discussion of the marketing of the ID.7, an electric sedan whose future seemed uncertain to us. Indeed, last spring, we learned that the German brand was postponing the plan to market this model without disclosing further details in the months that followed. Some rumors even suggested that the project would be completely abandoned in North America.

Contacted by EcoloAuto, Thomas Tetzlaff, director of public relations for Volkswagen Canada, confirmed that the ID.7 marketing project was still active. During this dealer congress, they would have indicated their interest in the sale of this electric sedan. The manufacturer would have studied the question before continuing the procedures and moving the project forward.

Production of the Volkswagen ID.7 has started

How much will the Volkswagen ID.7 cost?

For the moment, Volkswagen Canada refuses to share information regarding the price range of the new ID.7. However, a Quebec dealer told us that a high-end version of the Volkswagen ID.7 would display a price similar to that of a similarly equipped ID.4. Currently, the Volkswagen ID.4 2024 Pro S AWD, the most luxurious version, costs $63,210.

We should learn more by next spring. The Volkswagen ID.7 is produced in Emdem in Germany.
