Germany accuses Moscow of being behind the explosion of a parcel bomb: the secret services estimate Russia capable of attacking NATO by 2030

A parcel bomb affair which could have caused the crash of a German plane has resurfaced in Germany the fear of a Russian threat within the German information services. One of them claims that Russia could attack NATO by 2030.

The events took place in Germany in July. A package stored in the warehouse of the transport company DHL in Leipzig catches fire and spreads throughout the container.

The package had remained in the warehouse due to a plane delay but should have been there.

Fear of a Russian threat

The package came from the Baltic region where two people had been arrested in Lithuania and Poland in connection with this affair. German services suspect Moscow of being behind the attack. Thomas Haldenwang, head of domestic intelligence, accuses Moscow of being behind this affair. If the package “had exploded on board during the flight, there would have been a crash,” explains Haldenwang.

According to the heads of various German intelligence agencies, “In human and material terms, the Russian armed forces will probably be able to carry out an attack against NATO by the end of this decade.” For the director of the secret services, Bruno Kahl, the Kremlin wants “testing the West’s red lines”.
