The Senegal football team beat its Malawi counterpart by 1-0 on Tuesday in Lilongwe, in a match counting for the 4th day of the CAN 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Sadio Mané scored the only goal of the match in the very last minute of the game (96th), thus offering his team qualification for the next CAN, scheduled in Morocco.
Throughout the game, the Teranga Lions were very clumsy, often coming up against a big Thole in the Malawian goals. Finally, at the very last minute (96′), the Saudi AL Nasr member broke the deadlock by scoring with a decisive free kick.
With this victory, the Lions are co-leaders of the group with 10 points (same number as Burkina Faso already qualified).
Senegal, second with 7 points and a goal difference of +6, will face Burkina Faso on November 11 for the 5th day of the qualifiers.
This will be Senegal’s 18th participation in the prestigious African competition.
