Raising awareness before fines for scooters in the Léman Express

Scooter owners are in the sights of Léman Express. An awareness campaign was launched at the beginning of the month to prevent accidents and remind people that driving on platforms and in stations is prohibited. A few weeks of prevention before repression and fines. An offense that costs 150 francs.

Soft mobility, yes, but respecting the rules. It is forbidden to ride your scooter in stations and on platforms; an awareness campaign was launched at the beginning of October, spotted by our colleagues at Radiolac. Impossible to escape the stickers in station. Information on the other hand is more discreet on the Swiss side.

“Often people enter between the white line and the rails, in the most dangerous place on the platform, and at the slightest movement, the situation is fragile and dangerous. Today, we raise awareness with flyers, and tomorrow this will be a fine of 150 euros or Swiss francs” warns the director of Lémanis Mathieu Fleury.

Prevent and remind people of the rules of citizenship

Prevent accidents, but also remember some civic rules such as folding and storing your machine on the train. A situation often denounced by users on social networks, especially problematic during rush hours.

“A folded scooter is luggage, but unfolded it is considered a bicycle, and you must have an additional transport ticket on the Swiss side,” adds Mathieu Fleury.

A train trip with your scooter which can therefore be expensive. Rules also apply to bicycles, skateboards and rollerblades. Awareness which will continue for a few weeks before the repression.
