Dhahran – Moroccans Mariam Bouaoud and Fatima Kettani won respectively the “Reader of the Year” and “Promising Reader” Prizes in the Arab world, during the 9th edition of the “Aqraa” Competition, organized at the initiative of the International Center King Abdelaziz for Culture (Itrah) and whose results were announced on Saturday in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.

Mariam Bouaoud (25 years old) won the “Reader of the Year in the Arab World” Prize after beating four competitors from Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia in the final, by presenting a text literature dealing with the domination of the “wild material aspect” over human relationships in the modern era.

Doctoral student, Mariam Bouaoud, aged 25 and originally from Tetouan, expressed in a statement to MAP her joy at winning this prize, emphasizing that this consecration comes as the culmination of a long journey of work. seriousness and self-sacrifice in matters of structured reading and academic research.

For her part, Fatima Kettani (10 years old), winner of the “Promising Reader” Prize, set up for this edition, impressed the competition jury and the public with a reading presenting a rich range of information on the universe and cosmonautics.

The Moroccan, daughter of a Moroccan family residing in Saudi Arabia, indicated, in a similar statement, “not to expect this victory”, sharing “her great joy and enthusiasm” for this triumph.

The jury of this competition included the Secretary General of the King Faisal International Prize, Abdulaziz Al-Sabeel, the President of the UAE Writers’ Union, Sultan Al Nuaimi, and the poet and expert of the Organization of the Islamic World for education, sciences and culture (ISESCO), Raouda Hajj.

In addition, the Saudi school “Alajial Alahlia Alalami”, in the city of Hafar Al-Batin (East), won the “Reading School” Prize, while the teacher Najlaa Ghazay Assahimi was crowned “Reading Ambassadors” .

In total, 106,000 participants from all Arab countries took part in this edition of the Aqraa competition. Ten finalists from seven countries – Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Iraq, besides Morocco, qualified for the final.
