Montreuil-sur-Mer: The flood fair and solutions to inform and raise awareness among residents

DAs part of Resilience Day, the PAPI Canche du Symcèa (Canche and Authie mixed union) is offering the floods and solutions fair. This 2e edition will take place until this Saturday, October 12, 4:30 p.m. at the theater. “Its goal is to make residents aware that everyone is responsible for their own safety. Communities manage work to combat flooding, runoff, etc. But residents must also be prepared and know what to do if they receive a flood alert message.explains Émilie Cerf, project manager on reducing the vulnerability of people and property at Symcèa.

You should know that Symcéa offers residents diagnostics to reduce vulnerability. “We go to the residents’ homes and discuss with them what allows us to know the state of exposure to flooding of homes. We then discuss with them the work to be carried out to protect their property. The visit, diagnosis and report are free as well as support in preparing the grant application file. The recommended work can be financed between 80 and 100% depending on the case”.

Conference, debate, testimonies, advice and meetings

During this show, partners will address other themes. The CPIE (Permanent Center for Environmental Initiatives) of the Authie and Canche valleys will present solutions for managing water in its natural environment. A cofferdam professional will explain the different devices. There will also be civil protection and firefighters who will inform the public about crisis management and the right reflexes to adopt. The Chamber of Agriculture will pass messages on agroecology and soft hydraulics. There will also be an exhibition and activities for adults and children.

This flood and solutions fair began on Friday with a conference-debate, reserved for elected officials, on the theme: “Faced with flood risks, how can we reduce the vulnerability of our territories? “. As an introduction, a clip was projected on the screen and produced by the students of the Bréxent-Énocq school, heavily impacted by the floods, for the 2023-2024 school year. They put their words to a song by Louane.
