I am the fruit of a popular culture which took off in the 90s and which has established itself over the decades as the dominant culture. Video games, cinema, manga, anime, comics, comics, literature, series… I am eager to learn and explore the imaginations available to me, regardless of the media.
Rings of Power season 2 ended with an eighth and final episode that put an end to the forging of the rings of power by the villainous Sauron and the revelation of the Stranger’s identity. Criticized on many aspects, the series produced by Amazon Studios nevertheless stands out from previous adaptations on one specific point. Even Peter Jackson didn’t dare in his two trilogies. The Rings of Power metal song is an absolute banger!
The Lord of the Rings trilogy directed by Peter Jackson did not only stand out for its ability to adapt source material deemed unadaptable, careful production, slick visuals and a breathtaking story… the music alone was worth the detour. Between 2001 and 2003, composer Howard Shore delivered some of the most memorable soundtracks in the 7th Art. It’s not for nothing that The Fellowship of the Ring took home the Oscar for best film score, just like The Return of the King two years later. The last film in the saga even won the award for best original song.
21 years later, it is the turn of the Rings of Power series to stand out musically with a style never before heard in Middle-earth. The seventh episode of season 2 entitled “Doomed to Die” ends with a metal sound that perfectly suits the atmosphere of the end of the world which darkens the universe imagined by JRR Tolkien. Bear McCreary – the composer of this new adaptation – collaborates with the singer of the Swedish progressive metal band Meshuggah Jens Kidman on the end credits song. “The Last Ballad of Damrod” tells the story of the troll Damrod who joins the forces of Adar during the attack on Eregion and who ultimately perishes under the attacks of the elven people.
A season 3 for The Rings of Power?
The end of season 2 of Rings of Power inevitably brings THE question that burns on the lips of spectators. Will the Lord of the Rings series produced by Amazon Studios for a billion US dollars have a season 3? The streaming platform had announced before the broadcast of the first episodes of season 1 that 5 seasons were plannedbut Amazon prefers to confirm the start of production of the new one once the previous one has been broadcast in full on Prime Video. The executive producer, however, took the lead by promising good news “soon” to our colleagues at RadioTimes.com during a recent interview.
