Following a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO chief Mark Rutte recalled that Donald Trump understood the stakes of the war in Ukraine for the security of the United States.

The new Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte called this Thursday in London to stop worrying about a possible return of Donald Trump to the White House, stressing that the former American president understood the stakes of the war in Ukraine for the security of the United States. “I know he completely understands and agrees with me that this war in Ukraine is not just about Ukraine, but also about the safety and future security of the United States.”he declared after a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“So really, stop worrying about a Trump presidency.”he told journalists outside 10 Downing Street. “I am not worried because I am absolutely convinced that the United States will be involved because they understand that it is not only about Ukraine but also about themselves”he added.

Some of NATO’s European Allies fear a lesser commitment from the United States to the security of the European continent and an end to its military support for Ukraine in the event of victory by the American billionaire in the presidential election on November 5. As soon as he arrived at the head of NATO on October 1, Mark Rutte had already brushed aside the fears surrounding a possible victory for Donald Trump, “I’m not worried. I know both candidates very well and I worked with Donald Trump for four years.the former Dutch Prime Minister then said.
