Death of Matisse in Châteauroux: the 15-year-old suspect indicted for “murder” and placed in pre-trial detention

The 15-year-old teenager suspected of being behind the death of young Matisse, in Châteauroux, was indicted this Monday evening.

He was placed in pre-trial detention.

The prosecution indicates that his mother was also indicted and placed under judicial supervision.

The suspect in the death of Matisse in Châteauroux, in Indre, was indicted this Monday, April 29 evening. The prosecution indicated that the 15-year-old teenager was being prosecuted for “murder” and was placed in pre-trial detention. His mother, presented alongside him before the judge, was indicted for “intentional violence” against “vulnerable person”, specified the public prosecutor of Bourges, Céline Visiedo, indicating that she had “slapped the victim”.

The young man and his 37-year-old mother were taken into custody on Saturday evening, the day of the tragedy. The brawl, which occurred around 6 p.m. on the public highway of Châteauroux, a peaceful town of some 43,000 inhabitants, led to the death of Matisse, also aged 15, a few hours later in hospital.

The fight occurred in the “Saint-Denis district is a classic residential district. There are a few blocks of buildings, but it is not a district which is classified as a priority policy”, underlined the city’s mayor, who lives there himself, during a press conference. On Monday, residents and relatives placed white roses at the street corner where Matisse was taken in by emergency services, and flowers were left in front of the victim’s father’s restaurant. The teenager’s death comes after several incidents of violence between young people, such as the fatal beating of 15-year-old Shemseddine in Viry-Châtillon.
