Trouble for OL supporters. After the Lyonnais’ victory against Olympiakos (2-0) this Thursday, September 26, it was very difficult to return home by public transport from the Groupama Stadium in Décines.
The T3 and the Villette Sud tram shuttle suspended
The T3 tram and the tram shuttle to Villette Sud were suspended shortly after 11 p.m. and the whistle at the end of the match. To get to Lyon Part-Dieu, it took around 1h30 by TCL compared to 25-40 minutes usually.
The shuttles only go to Vaulx La Soie, a long queue formed to hope for a place. Then, metro A was stormed to reach Lyon. Its operations stopping at midnight, some were left behind.
The T3 attacked by projectile jets
Line T3 was subject to projectile jets at 9 p.m., then 10:45 p.m. at the Bel Air – Les Brosses station, in Villeurbanne. A train was damaged, including broken windows. “In conjunction with the police forces, Keolis took the decision to interrupt the traffic,” we are told.
Questioned by our editorial team, the interdepartmental management of the national police confirmed several projectile throws on the trains of the T3 tram at Bel-Air causing damage. An investigation is underway.
Fortunately, the number of supporters at Groupama Stadium was reduced. There were only 24,400, this first Europa League meeting being behind closed doors. OL were sanctioned for incidents during their last European match in April 2022 at West Ham, lost 3 to 0 at the Hammers.
