An accident involving a heavy goods vehicle and two buses carrying French and German students left at least one seriously injured and 25 lightly injured on Friday afternoon on the A216 in , according to a provisional report from the prefecture. The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the port ring road.

The cause and circumstances of this accident were not immediately known, the prefecture said. In a press release, it specifies that “the two buses were transporting middle and high school students of German nationality for one, and French for the other”.

A teenager seriously injured

The provisional report shows around a hundred people involved, 25 lightly injured and one more seriously injured, a teenager present in one of the buses whose vital prognosis is however “not engaged”, specified the prefecture. Firefighters, SAMU, national police and civil protection are mobilized to care for the victims.

The people involved but not injured “were sheltered behind the emergency lane, waiting for replacement buses which will take them to a room made available by the Calais town hall where they will be taken care of,” said the prefecture. At 6 p.m., the port ring road was closed between the port and the A16.
