The Arab Meteorological Services celebrate on September 15th of each year the Arab Meteorological Day which commemorates the day of the establishment of the Permanent Arab Committee for Meteorology and which was approved by the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level on September 15, 1970.

This council of Arab ministers responsible for meteorology and climate issues, of which Morocco is an active member, consolidates coordination and cooperation with international and regional organizations and bodies, and promotes joint Arab action and calls for increased coordination with the authorities concerned by extreme weather phenomena.

Meteorology is important in our lives and to highlight the importance of meteorology on our lives, as well as highlight the work done by the Arab and World Meteorological Services in the field of weather and climate monitoring and forecasting in order to protect lives and property. Especially since our Arab region is particularly affected by climate change and its effects.

Indeed, climate change is embodied before our eyes in all its cruelty: massive floods, severe heat waves and forest fires, which cause human and material losses, which have a direct impact on the safety of people and property, and require meteorological services at the global level and at the level of the Arab world to find adaptation strategies by constantly monitoring the Weather and Climate and by issuing early and accurate forecasts and warnings to mitigate risks and threats and ensure the safety of people and property.
