The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) of Chaumont retirees gathered at Brottes town hall on Wednesday May 1st. A festive, united, protesting and offensive day. It was not just them, but also other associations such as the Human Rights League, France Palestine, Secours populaire, but also “the Comrades of La Rochotte and Ashton”.
Retirees are against class closures
For ten years on the same date, around a hundred have also taken advantage of this event. That day, the key words were peace, social justice and freedoms. Three values for them which have disappeared according to the collective. More local themes were discussed, according to the CGT secretary of Chaumont retirees, Marie-Rose Patelli: “We took a position against class closures, job cuts and the XXL methane digester in Chamarandes-Choignes. But also for public services and hospitals in Langres and Chaumont.” An anger shared by Patrice and Lydie who came together. “Everything is increasing today. We want more purchasing power because rents have jumped. » At the end of the speeches, the participants all enjoyed a homemade paella.
