On Friday evening, a fire broke out in the industrial area of ​​Rotkreuz. According to the Zug police, a garage on Grundstrasse was affected. The fire was reported to the emergency services shortly after 9:30 p.m. When the first emergency services arrived, flames and heavy smoke were visible, the police wrote.

With the support of the Hünenberg fire department and the Zug fire department (FFZ), the Risch fire department managed to bring the fire under control and thus prevent it from getting worse. At midnight, the fire was reported extinguished by the Zug authorities. Around 100 people were deployed.

According to the police, there were several people in the attic apartment of the property at the time the fire broke out and they were evacuated for safety reasons. No one was injured. The material damage is large, but cannot yet be quantified. It is not yet clear what caused the fire. The forensic service of the Zug police is now investigating the cause.

Distinct stench

According to the “AlertSwiss” app, the fire caused heavy smoke and a strong stench. Traffic around the accident site was also severely disrupted.

Residents in the affected area were asked to close windows and doors and turn off ventilation and air conditioning. People should stay away from the area and avoid it. Neighbors should also be alerted.

A reader reporter explained to “20 Minuten” how she discovered the fire: “Suddenly there were several bangs, the whole building shook.” The fire brigade arrived partly on foot and extinguished the fire for about an hour. Later in the fire, smoke also developed on the upper floors, which the fire brigade then controlled using passenger lifts.
