EXCLUSIVE VIDEO – Dany Boon looks back on his big moment of solitude at Molières: “I was devastated”

“Superstar, no, no. I’m the superstar of my children, of my dog. But that never lasts.” These words from Dany Boon were spoken on Bernard Montiel’s show, 1 hour with…to be found this Sunday, June 30 from 12 p.m. Laurence Arné’s lover seemed embarrassed by the fact that his host called him that while he is collecting successes, especially in the cinema. The father of five children, however, experienced more difficult times at the beginning of his career, notably during the Molières ceremony in 1996.

Nominated in the best one-man show category for his fifth show I am fine, everything is fine !, Dany Boon revealed that he experienced a great moment of solitude when he went on stage to do a sketch which was supposed to last 7 minutes. He finally finished it in 3 minutes. “You had to do a sketch when you were nominated”explained the man who has difficulty talking about his income with his loved ones, adding: “I go on stage to do the sketch with Harlequin’s book and I see people turning their heads and saying: Oh no!” And the father of five children concludes on this delicate moment: “I was desperate, there were a few people laughing, but very few. I walked off stage, I was devastated.”

Dany Boon found comfort in his misfortune

Fortunately, Dany Boon does not only have bad memories of this trying evening. “It is Raymond Devos who consoled me and then took me to the restaurant. He said to me: ‘I experienced the same thing at the start of my career'”, said the one who revealed that his mother had been rejected by her family. Very touched by the disastrous reception of his sketch, Dany Boon was asked by Raymond Devos to go to the Fouquet’s brasserie where everyone went after the ceremony. “I said, ‘No, no, I don’t feel welcome in the theater family, so I’m going to go my own way.'” The comedian, who died in 2006, then took him to the Brasserie Lipp. Enough to cheer up Judith Godrèche’s ex-partner: “So I didn’t get a Molière, I got a Raymond Devos that day.” A nice anecdote which shows that, in the entertainment industry, some are more welcoming than others.
