The 27-year-old from Vosges won his third slalom victory of the winter, the 13th of his career, which allows him to equal Jean-Noël Augert’s record.

And Clément Noël exulted as he rarely did. Not to say never. Usually more restrained in the expression of his feelings, the Frenchman split the shell just after crossing the finish line, which he had just crossed by lighting green for a very small hundredths lead over the Brazilian Lucas Pinehiro Braaten. Victory was not yet assured since there were still two competitors to go through in the second round but Clément Noël, in very delicate conditions, chased away a few demons. And the best was yet to come…

Indeed, the 27-year-old from Vosges would see the German Linus Strasser, second in the first round, finish at the foot of the podium while the Austrian Manuel Feller lost his balance and missed a gate. This opened an avenue for Clément Noël who won the slalom in Adelboden, in Switzerland, this Saturday. His third World Cup success of the season, and the first since his sprained right ankle in December. Above all, this is his 13th career victory in the World Cup between the stakes, which allows him to equal Jean-Noël Augert’s record, which dates back to… 1973. In other words, an eternity.

In the World Cup rankings, the Frenchman performed excellently by moving back into second place, 35 points behind the leader, the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, 3rd this Saturday in Adelboden. Just behind him is the Swiss Loic Meillard, who paid dearly for leaving the track in the first round while wearing the red bib of the discipline.
