A young man suspected of having stabbed several people on New Year's Eve in a hotel residence in the center of the Isola 2000 ski resort, in the Alpes-Maritimes, finally surrendered to the gendarmes on Wednesday at the end of 'afternoon, tells Le Parisien the public prosecutor of , Damien Martinelli. Aged 18, he was placed in police custody “for attempted homicide”, specifies the prosecution.

The drama took place during New Year's Eve, in circumstances that are still unclear at this stage.

Around 2 a.m., the individual stabbed three people. Two of them, including a minor, were “very seriously injured”, indicated Damien Martinelli, cited by 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The vital prognosis of these two people “the most seriously injured” is now “no longer in jeopardy”, he said in a press release this Thursday.

As for the suspect, he “has never been convicted and declares himself temporary,” he adds. “Investigations are continuing to clarify the context and motive of the facts,” continues the prosecutor. The day before, he had confirmed to Le Parisien that an investigation into attempted homicide had been opened and entrusted to the Puget-Théniers gendarmerie.

According to BFMTV, the suspect, who suffers from psychiatric disorders, had been identified by the police even before surrendering. A neighborhood conflict allegedly degenerated due to noise during a New Year's Eve party in the station, according to the media.
