What’s going on at Stelvio this year? The Super-G on the infamous track in Bormio was only a few minutes old when the fans took their breath away again at the finish. Gino Caviezel, who started the race with start number 1, made an unfortunate turn in the middle of the course and slid dozens of meters down the steep track.
The Swiss finally remained lying on the flat section, but his screams of pain could immediately be heard over the television broadcast. The confederate raised his hand and waved frantically for help. Rescue workers immediately rushed to the scene of the accident and the rescue helicopter also had to get into the air again. The race was interrupted for a long time.
The World Cup stop in Bormio has already claimed several victims: Cyprien Sarrazin suffered a hemorrhage between two meninges, Pietro Zazzi broke his tibia and fibula, and Josua Mettler tore his anterior cruciate ligament, medial ligament and medial meniscus.
The race continued after a long interruption. You can follow the decision with the Sportnews live ticker.
