Strasbourg brings down Marseille!

This is the surprise of this 6th day of Ligue 1. This Sunday evening, Olympique de were surprised on the pitch by losing with a score of 1 goal to 0.

It was Strasbourg midfielder Diego Moreira who found the fault and allowed his team to take the 3 points in this meeting.

A more than valuable success for the RCSA which moved back to 8th position in the ranking with a total of 9 points. Liam Rosenior’s players are one on a streak of 3 consecutive matches without defeat.

For Olympique de Marseille, it’s a small setback. Undefeated since the start of the year, the Phocaeans suffered their first setback of the season and therefore let Saint-Germain and AS Monaco slip away in the standings (3 points behind).

Enterprising Strasbourg residents

RC Strasbourg has been achieving great things for several weeks in Ligue 1. And the Strasbourg residents wanted to confirm in front of their public against a championship leader. And from the start of the meeting, Emanuel Emegha’s partners showed their ambitions: rapid transitions forward and intense pressing on the Marseille players.

The RCSA continued to endanger the Marseille defense and almost found the fault at the end of the first period. Found on the left, Sebastien Nanasi drives his ball full axis before shifting Diego Moreira who goes to deceive Geromino Rulli with a clear and well-placed left shot (1-0, 40th). A goal which rewarded the efforts of the RCSA.

A balanced second act

As soon as they return from the locker room, the two teams leave with the same game intentions: offensive play and high pressing to recover the ball as high as possible. Despite the Olympian attacks led by Greenwood and Neal Maupay, the RCSA held on and kept a clean sheet.

The entry of Adrien Rabiot on the hour mark (62nd) changed nothing, even if the latter almost proved decisive by delivering a magnificent caviar to Neal Maupay with his first ball.

Roberto De Zerbi’s men are therefore stopped in their tracks and will have to recover during the next day at the Stade Vélodrome against the red lantern in the ranking .
