Before its arrival in dealerships, the electric Renault 5 is on display at the Marseille Fair

It’s one of the most anticipated electric cars of the year. The new Renault 5 E-Tech has arrived at the International Fair, at Parc Chanot. Exhibited on the stand of the Renault dealership on Boulevard Michelet, the zero-emission city car was initially not present at the start of the Fair.

It is therefore by surprise that this electric Renault 5 is presented to visitors until the end of this event, which lasts until Monday September 30 inclusive. The public at the Fair can sit aboard the vehicle and discover its digital dashboard.

Presented in its famous “Jaune Pop” livery, the new R5 is on display at the 99th edition of the Marseille Fair, a few days before its arrival in the French manufacturer’s dealerships, and the start of its marketing. The commercial, which refers to the French Revolution, begins its television broadcast on Saturday September 29, using the hit “Instant Crush”, by Daft Punk.

Up to 410 kilometers of electric range

The first deliveries of the electric R5 to its buyers are expected before the end of the year.

Unveiled with great fanfare at the Geneva Motor Show last February, the car marks the return of a cult model to the Renault catalog. It embodies the “Renaulution”, a concept inaugurated by the current boss of Renault, Luca de Meo, to relaunch the brand.

The first version to leave the factories in (North) is equipped with a 52 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery, which provides a range of 410 kilometers, according to Renault.

An entry-level model, with a smaller battery and a range of 300 kilometers, will be marketed during 2025.

Excluding ecological bonus, the Renault 5 E-Tech is currently sold at a price of €33,490, or even €35,490 for the most high-end finish. The entry-level model should be sold for around €25,000.

Renault is preparing to release an electric 4L

In the spring, the economic daily Les Echos also claimed that a version with an even smaller battery could be sold at a price of around €20,000.

The new Renault 5 could, finally, be integrated into a second salvo of the government’s “social leasing” system. This aid, which has enabled some 50,000 households to rent an electric car for less than €100 per month, could be relaunched at the start of 2025.

After the R5, Renault is preparing to unveil an electric 4L, in , during the Paris Motor Show which takes place from October 14 to 20.
