He wasn’t done: gathered around the King Baudouin stadium, thousands of young people received a surprise visit… from the Pope

While we thought his day was over after his visit to the Koekelberg basilica and UCLouvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, the Pope gave a little surprise to thousands of young people, stationed in front of the King Baudouin stadium.

The Pope is definitely a man of surprises. After visiting a rest home this Friday, the Pope decided to extend his long day this Saturday, during which he had already visited the Basilica of Koekelberg as well as UCLouvain, in Louvain-la-Neuve, to go, shortly after 8 p.m. near the King Baudouin stadium.

Did he go there to make sure he would be on time for his high mass tomorrow morning? No way ! If the Holy Father went to the surroundings of the stadium, it was to surprise and greet thousands of young people, who are camping in front of the King Baudouin Stadium this night.

Indeed, on the occasion of the Pope’s visit to Brussels, a program for young people aged 12 to 30, entitled “Hope Happening”, is organized at Heysel on September 28 and 29. On the program: a walk of hope, creative workshops on faith and spirituality, a music festival and a night in the shadow of the King Baudouin Stadium in a specially designed indoor campsite in the Heysel Palaces.

Aware of this event, the Pope therefore went to meet these young people animated by faith.
