After explaining that the medical time-out taken by Jannik Sinner was ideal for the latter, during his appearance this Monday at a press conference following his defeat in the round of 16, Holger Rune added another layer by insisting in particular on the excessive duration.

The Dane also took the opportunity to recognize that he should certainly have done the same thing instead of sitting for long minutes in the sun without doing anything.

“I don’t know why it took so long. The doctors came to check him on the pitch and the referee said they needed to do more checks to make sure he was okay. Then he came back on the court in a rage, so I don't know what they did to him. I could see he was struggling. It was very, very humid and very hot today (Monday). It's like it sticks a lot to the body. Especially after I had a 10, 12 minute break, I was sitting in the heat, I was cooking. We have to move forward and maybe be smarter next time to, I don't know, wait outside the field or whatever. Yes, it was a little too long. »
