A young man shot several times in Corsica. The circumstances of the tragedy remain unclear. The trail of a settling of scores is favored by the investigators. Who was the victim? What happened that evening in Calenzana?
A tragedy shook the village of Calenzana in Haute-Corse last night. Around 8 p.m., a young man in his twenties was discovered lifeless, riddled with bullets. The exact circumstances of this murder remain mysterious for the moment and raise many questions.
An open criminal investigation
Faced with this brutal and suspicious death, the Bastia public prosecutor's office immediately opened an investigation into intentional homicide by an organized gang. The investigations were entrusted jointly to the research section of the Corsican gendarmerie and to the interdepartmental direction of the judicial police. The first elements collected on site suggest a possible settling of scores against a backdrop of organized crime.
Who was the victim?
According to several sources close to the investigation, the man killed was a certain Dominique Colombani, aged 27. Originally from the region, he was already known to the police for petty crimes but nothing that suggested such a fatal outcome. His proximity to certain local mafia clans could explain this targeted and premeditated homicide.
He was a guy with no history, he had some questionable acquaintances but to imagine that he would end up like that…
– A relative of the victim

The second homicide of the year in Corsica
This murder brings to two the number of people killed by bullets since the start of 2025 on the island. A worrying situation which recalls the violence of conflicts between criminal groups for the control of territories and trafficking. The authorities nevertheless want to be reassuring and affirm that they are using all necessary means to shed light on this matter and stem the deadly escalation.
- In 2024, Corsica experienced 7 fatal account settlements
- Over the last 10 years, more than 100 assassinations linked to organized crime have taken place on the island.
Calenzana in shock
The 2000 inhabitants of this peaceful village of Balagne are in shock. Their town had never experienced such an outburst of violence. Many worry about a spiral of retaliation and a bad reputation that would stick to Calenzana.
That's not the kind of publicity we need. We are a quiet, family village, what is happening scares us very much.
– A trader from Calenzana
The funeral of Dominique Colombani should take place at the end of the week in family privacy. Until then, the gendarmes will increase the number of interviews and samples to try to identify the perpetrators of the shootings and their sponsors. Justice will have to shed light on this umpteenth homicide which is mourning Corsica and tarnishing its image.
