Magic Mouse: no voice commands for the Apple mouse of 2026!

Apple’s Mac accessories recently received a makeover in terms of connectivity: USB-C. The Lightning has thus disappeared from the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse. Concerning this last product, Apple would have great ambitions for its next generation of wireless mice.

A new version is already under development by the Apple company. We recently learned from Mark Gurman that the Magic Mouse would return around 2026. He also said that Apple was considering “create something more relevant, while addressing long-standing complaints”. This would therefore be an opportunity to review the ergonomics or even the location of the charging port.

However, things would not end there for the Magic Mouse. The leaker Eyes1122 added some information this December 30, 2024 on the planned changes. He shares that the design team at Apple has already designed several prototypes in recent months, with the aim of adapting the design of the mouse to the modern era.

The informant then speaks of a “ergonomic design for modern computing that combines touchscreens, voice commands and hand gestures”. A phrase which was quickly taken up by various media as suggesting the arrival of voice commands on the Magic Mouse.

The reality is quite different, given that Yeux 1122 simply misreported the information from journalist Mark Gurman, where he spoke of a design adapted to the modern era, and this, “in a computing world now permeated with touchscreens, voice commands and hand gestures”.

You should therefore not expect to be able to talk to your mouse to perform various actions on your Mac. The addition of additional tactile gestures to the surface of the Magic Mouse seems more than likely, however, as does a new, more ergonomic design than the current model.

Regarding the release date, the informant announces a launch alongside the MacBook Pro Oled, scheduled for the end of 2026.
