Last year, Huawei introduced its first trifold smartphone, the Mate XT. A new leak has surfaced online regarding the Mate XT successor. The leak reveals the potential chipset for Huawei’s next foldable smartphone.
A tipster Fixed Focus Digital on Chinese social media site Weibo suggests the Kirin 9020 chipset for the second generation of the tri-fold phone. For comparison, the Huawei Mate
The Kirin 9020 is a 12-core processor based on a 7nm process. It integrates the Maleoon 920 GPU clocked at 840 MHz. The single-core performance of the Kirin 9020 would be between that of the Snapdragon 888+ and the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. As for the multi-core performance, it would be comparable to the Dimensity 8300 and Dimensity 9200 chipsets. It may not be as impressive than the latest industry flagships Qualcomm and MediaTek although it is an improvement over the Mate XT Kirin 9010.
As for the release, no concrete information is yet available. The Mate XT was launched in September last year, and we can expect a similar launch schedule for its successor.
