The 10 PS5 games that could break everything in 2025

Whatever the support, the releases will continue in 2025. For your part, if you have decided to scratch for a PS5 or a PS5 Pro, you will surely not be disappointed with the line-up for the next twelve months. From January to December, there will be many who want to shake up the news: if you are looking for the names of the games that risk breaking everything in 2025, ten of them are probably listed below!

Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows, developed by Ubisoft Quebec (AC Syndicate, AC Odyssey) and published by Ubisoft, is the fourteenth major opus in the Assassin’s Creed series. Its release is scheduled for February 14, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, macOS and iPadOS. After years of waiting for a game in this universe, the saga finally takes us to the land of the Rising Sun! Around the 16th century, towards the end of the Sengoku era, we explore a period marked by internal conflicts.

The game features two playable protagonists: Naoe, a shinobi, and Yasuke, an African samurai inspired by the historical character of the same name. Each offers a distinct playstyle, allowing you to approach quests in different ways. As a promise, the open world of Shadows, comparable in size to that of Assassin’s Creed Origins, evolves with the seasons, influencing gameplay with elements such as frozen water in winter or lush vegetation in spring. In terms of story progression, missions are non-linear, encouraging players to track down and eliminate their targets autonomously.

Crimson Desert

Developed by Pearl Abyss, a studio which also designs another title called DokeV, Crimson Desert is an action-adventure video game planned for release on PC and consoles in 2025, late at best! While the launch date hasn’t been set in stone, expectations are high due to the pedigree of its creators, known for their work on Black Desert Online. Set in a vast and open world, the game offers an immersive experience combining abundant exploration, demanding combat (according to feedback from the first hands-on) and narrative content, such as a main plot and a plethora of quests.

The player plays a hero named Macduff, a mercenary seeking revenge and redemption. The story takes place in a universe where power struggles between different factions and kingdoms take center stage. With a richly detailed world and exploration that promises to be deep, Crimson Desert aims to offer a captivating adventure, while offering great freedom to the player. If the result lives up to the ambitions displayed in the trailer, it promises!

Death Stranding 2 : On the Beach

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the highly anticipated sequel to Death Stranding, is indeed making games that will need to be kept an eye on in 2025. Developed by Kojima Productions – the studio of the father of the Metal Gear saga – and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is indeed due out this year, although the exact date has not yet been confirmed. This game will once again feature Sam Porter Bridges, played by Norman Reedus, and will introduce new characters.

Among them, we find Tomorrow, played by Elle Fanning, and Rainy, played by Shioli Kutsuna. The story takes place after the events of the first episode, and seems to explore new narrative dynamics. Players will evolve in a post-apocalyptic world, where the heavy atmosphere and morbid mysteries remain omnipresent. Besides that, tension and solitude, key elements of the series, will always be at the heart of this new adventure.

Dynasty Warriors : Origins

Absent from the shelves for seven years now, the great video game saga Dynasty Warriors is making a comeback with an episode that puts the spotlight on things. Having disappeared from the radar, the saga could well play the outsider card in 2025. Moreover, this opus will not be long in coming since its launch is already scheduled for January 17. Developed by Omega studio and published by Koei Tecmo, Dynasty Warriors: Origins follows in the pure tradition of the franchise and brings the mūso genre up to date!

For this part, the choice was made to adapt a great novel of Chinese literature, dating from the 15th century: Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Of course, the studio intends to add its own little touch by offering a more detailed approach to the story. On the gameplay side, no big surprises since we find the elements of hack’n’slash and strategy which have made the reputation of this saga. If you’re looking to get off to a good start and break everything in 2025, you can go for Dynasty Warriors Origins, which will allow you to fight against troops of… 10,000 soldiers!

Ghost of Yōtei

More than four years after Jin Sakai’s epic in Ghost of Tsushima, a new chosen one has come to take up the torch of the samurai! Still developed by the Sucker Punch studio and supported by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the Ghost of saga is expanding with the arrival, in 2025, at a date still undetermined, of Ghost of Yōtei! In a way, it even succeeds Ghost of Tsushima since the game takes place in 1603, in the region of Hokkaido, Japan, 329 years after the events of the previous title.

However, if it is an episode in continuity with the previous one, you can obviously discover the saga with this second episode, in particular because it starts again on new bases. The player plays Atsu, a warrior who adopts the identity of the Phantom. From the little information we currently have about it, we know that, unlike its predecessor, Ghost of Yōtei will focus on more influential narrative choices for the player. Moreover, we imagine that the teams will have enhanced the gameplay of Ghost of Tsushima, while adding new features that will make it even more enjoyable to play.

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6)

No matter where Grand Theft Auto 6 celebrates its launch, it will be a global hit. If there is one title that will explode the video game industry in 2025, it’s GTA VI! Developed by Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two Interactive, GTA 6 is expected in fall 2025, even if the exact date is not yet known and suspicions of a potential postponement are growing. Regardless, we will soon have a successor to GTA 5, and just by knowing that, we know that the video game world will not recover from it any time soon.

For the occasion, Rockstar Games decided to opt not for three characters but for a duo of protagonists: Lucia and Jason. Throughout the game, we will follow them in a vast and detailed open world, based on the American state of Florida and whose main city, that of Vice City, will be a reinterpreted and highly satirical version of Miami. Regarding the gameplay, we are not expecting a shaken formula and we already know that we will be entitled to big car trips, third-person shooting sequences and missions and activities as crazy as each one. than the others.

Judas

Judas, developed by Ghost Story Games under the direction of Ken Levine, emblematic creator of the Bioshock saga, promises to be a first-person shooter with great ambitions. Although no specific release date has been announced yet, it is expected to be released before March 2025, barring any delays. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. As for its plot, it takes place aboard the Mayflower, an interstellar ship transporting the last survivors of humanity to Proxima Centauri.

On board, three main characters lead the company: Tom, a man determined to preserve humanity as it is; Nefertiti, his wife, Nobel Prize winner, who dreams of transforming humanity into a race of perfect robots; and their adopted daughter, Hope, who wants to disappear from existence. The protagonist, Judas, manages to escape this conditioning and starts a revolution aboard the ship. For science fiction fans, nothing more is needed: all the conditions are there to allow Judas to cause a sensation as much on PS5 as on other supports.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

After the seven years of absence of the Dynasty Warriors saga and its return with the episode Origins, it is the turn of the Kingdom Come license to make a most notable reappearance. Well received by players, the Deliverance episode is about to introduce us to its younger brother, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, which is scheduled for release on February 4, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. Proudly wearing the colors of the action-RPG genre in a medieval context, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver, follows the story of Henry, a blacksmith from Bohemia, plunged into a civil war in beginning of the 15th century.

In an open world, players will be able to interact with characters and influence the development of the protagonist. The game environment will be larger, with two large explorable areas. Additionally, items such as crossbows and primitive firearms will enrich the gameplay. While the first part offered dozens and dozens of hours of gameplay, there is no doubt that this sequel promises to be even more ambitious. Fans of medieval RPGs, more traditional and less fantastical, will have a blast.

On the one hand, Hideo Kojima continues his work as an illustrious video game creator while, on the other, the publisher Konami continues to ride on the emblematic saga that the father of Death Stranding himself shaped for several decades . Faced with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, there will therefore be a remake of Metal Gear Solid, and not just any remake. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a sort of version 2.0 of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater released in 2004.

Brought up to date using new technologies – and also thanks to the know-how of the Konami Digital Entertainment studio – this remake, planned for 2025 without further details, will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. As in the original, we follow Naked Snake, a FOX agent, on a mission in 1964 to save a Russian scientist and destroy a Soviet nuclear weapon, while confronting his former mentor, The Boss. With modernized graphics and gameplay tweaks, the remake retains the essence of the original game while bringing visual improvements and systems more suited to modern standards.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Expected for February 28, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, Monster Hunter Wilds is one of the most anticipated titles of the coming year. This new opus of Capcom’s iconic saga, which has gained popularity since Monster Hunter: World, remains faithful to the fundamentals of the series, while introducing new features. Players take on the role of a hunter evolving in the Forbidden Lands, a vast wild region populated by varied and fearsome creatures. This game will mark a new stage in the graphic evolution of the franchise, with a vast and diverse open world, offering biomes with varied landscapes.

The core gameplay still relies on tracking down and fighting monsters, with the ability to harvest resources to craft weapons, armor, and even prepare meals. Among the notable innovations, the Seikret, a versatile mount, will facilitate movement while providing support during clashes. The game system also includes a Focus mode, allowing you to target monsters’ weak points to carry out targeted attacks. With these additions, Monster Hunter Wilds promises to be an even more immersive and surprising gaming experience.
