Asus unveils 4 new ProArt 5K, 6K, QD-OLED and 8K monitors

Taking advantage of Computex 2024 from Taipei, Asus presented its new ProArt monitors intended for image professionals. The manufacturer presents screens 5K or 6K IPSthe Asus ProArt PA27JCV et PA32QCV. There are also instructors presented earlier in the year during the NAB Show, as the QD-OLED ProArt PA32UCDM and especially the screen 8K mini LED ProArt PA32KCX. Back to their characteristics.

Asus is giving a boost to its ProArt screen range aimed at image professionals. The computer scientist Taiwanese seeks to become a reference in the sector and thus presents screens quite impressive.

ProArt PA27JCV 5K and PA32QCV 6K: two very defined screens

At the beginning of June 2024, during Computex From Taipei, Asus has lifted the veil on two new, highly defined screens. On one side, the ProArt PA27JCVa monitor of 27 inches displaying a definition of 5K. On the other, the ProArt PA32QCVwith 32 inches and an 6K definition.

The two monitors, apart from the definition and the diagonal, are strictly identical. Their display offers a very high density of 218 pixels per inch (PPP). This allows a display very clear and detailed. For comparison, a screen 27 inches in 4K propose a DPI of “only” 163 PPI.

Asus claims that its panels IPS 60 Hz cover 100% sRGB space and until 99% you DCI-P3while offering a Delta E less than 2. The screens use in-house technology LuxPixel which would allow reduce unwanted reflections while maintaining excellent color fidelity. The contrast ratio remains within the norm for an IPS panel with 1000:1. This is still quite far from OLED screens and their almost “infinite” contrast ratio.

Both monitors feature “LightSync” technology, which uses light sensors to monitor the backlight of the screen to ensure that correct colors are displayed immediately upon switching on of the screen

Furthermore, the connectivity of these two screens is quite complete. We count thus:

  • 1 USB-C 3.2 Gen1 Power Delivery port for charging a computer at up to 96 W
  • 3 ports USB-A 3.2 Gen1
  • 2 ports HDMI 2.0
  • 2 DisplayPort 1.4
  • 1 sortie jack 3,5 mm

The monitors are also equipped with 2 x 2 W speakers for additional sound. The screens are intended to be rather elegant with very thin borders and are also compatible with the VESA system.

ProArt PA32KCX: the 8K screen of all superlatives

In parallel with the presentation of PA27JCV et PA32QCVAsus took the opportunity to recall the existence of its extraordinary monitor, the ProArt PA32KCXwith a definition 8Kannounced at the show NAB Show last April.

The PA32KCX thus offers high definition of 7680 × 4320 pixels and a screen diagonal of 32 inches. The display density then increases to 280 PPP !

Asus is not content simply with an increase in definition. Its panel (IPS, 60 Hz) uses backlighting mini-LED with 4096 dimming zones, the contrast ratio should be very high. The brightness reaches 1000 Nitswith peaks up to 1200 Nits.

The manufacturer specifies that the PA32KCX would even be the first 8K device of this diagonal to support norms HDR10. The cover of DCI-P3 space would reach 97%, and 99% of AdobeRGB. The Delta E average would be even less than 1for greater color fidelity.

The connectivity is also very complete with a port HDMI 2.1, deux ports USB-C Thunderbolt 4 (delivering 96 W in PowerDelivery) and a DisplayPort 2.1. In addition, the screen is equipped with a integrated colorimetric probe. A fairly practical solution, facilitating calibration.

ProArt PA32UCDM, a 4K OLED screen for creators

Also during the NAB Show 2024, Asus also announced the ProArt PA32UCDM, and 32 inch 4K monitor equipped with a from QD-OLEDs. It is closely derived from the gaming screen. ROG Swift PG32UCDM. As a reminder, QD-OLED technology combines the advantages of QLED and OLED technologies to offer more vibrant colorsand better contrasta superior brightnessa wider color gamut and improved viewing angles.

It offers a more discreet design and better color fidelitywith a cover 99% you DCI-P3 or even a Delta E less than 1. The maximum brightness would reach 1000 Nitsand the screen is also compatible with the HDR10. Likewise, thanks to OLED, the contrast ratio would be very high, with 1 500 000:1. Enough to guarantee blacks very deep.

In addition, due to the legacy of gaming, it maintains a very fast refresh rate at 240 Hz. This suggests a very high display fluidity. It also uses the same ports as the PA32KCX 8K, while still making the DisplayPort deadlock.

Pricing and availability of Asus ProArt displays

Currently, Asus has not yet specified price or availability of these four new monitors.

For comparison, the ROG Swift PG32UCDM gaming screen, 4K QD-OLED screen model PA32UCDM, was launched at €1499. We can therefore expect a similar price for the PA32UCDM.

Regarding 5K and 6K screens, PA27JCV et PA32QCVwe find rivals like the Studio Display d’Applewith a price starting at €1749 and the Samsung ViewFinity S90PC, launched in July 2023 at €1,599. We can estimate that the price of Asus screens should start around 1500 €.

Finally, for the 8K mini-LED monitor PA32KCX, it is difficult to estimate an introductory price. However, the latest mini-LED version in the manufacturer’s catalog, the PA32UCXR, marketed since January 2024 and offering a “only” 4K definition, is priced at around €3,600. We can therefore envisage a price higher than 4000 € for the 8K monitor.

Our first review of Asus’ new ProArt displays

The range of monitors ProArt from Asus is beefing up with these new announcements. Already well-stocked, the series for creatives of all kinds wins very interesting references.

5K and 6K screens ProArt PA27JCV et PA32QCV have quite flattering characteristics, offer high pixel density and seem to be alternatives more than relevant to displays like Apple’s Studio Display.

Of course, it’s with the monitor mini-LED 8K ProArt PA32KCX and the PA32UCXR 4K QD-OLED Asus impresses. The PA32KCX and its 8K will be an ideal ally for those who need to display a lot of information on the screen – provided you have a computer powerful enough to handle everything.

As for the PA32UCXR and its QD-OLED panel, it should offer a very high image quality and will also be interesting for photo and video editing, but also watching films and even video games with its refresh rate at 240 Hz.

Products which promise to be very good, but which will undoubtedly also be very expensive and only accessible to professionals (fortunate) or studios de production.
