The 45-year-old Italian proved his worth in his country by guiding Sassuolo to the European Cup before repeating this performance in England on the bench of Brighton, the club with which he faced OM in the Europa League last season.
The Marseille challenge seems just as exciting after a failed 2023-2024 season on the national level. While the squad should, once again, be shaken up, De Zerbi and the leaders will have to build a team capable of bringing OM back to the European stage.
