While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has captured all the attention of FPS fans, well, it’s not the only shooter on the market. We invite you to take a look at 10 games that are alternatives to the Activision franchise.

Obviously, if we talk about FPS, many will mention Call of Duty. Activision games are world famous and have supported players for years. However, there are plenty of good first-person shooters out there and we think it would be a shame if you missed out. Especially since some of them have left their mark on fans of the genre and stood out for their originality or their gameplay.

The Finals

We start this selection with one of the most recent FPS. The Finals, developed by Battlefield alumni. The game immerses you in a colorful and explosive universe. Here, three teams compete to recover and extract loot. The great thing about the game is that you have the possibility of destroying everything! And yes, like what the Battlefield license had already offered, you can throw explosives or run into walls to weaken the structure of buildings and make them collapse.

The concept is simple, of course, but very dynamic with the controller in hand. Especially since the game world immerses you in a television show with presenters who comment on your actions during the game. The title is free-to-play available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series with regular updates, the latest takes you to the heart of Tokyo and adds three weapons to the fighters’ arsenal: the bow, the double sword and spear.

XDefiant

We continue with XDefiant. Here, Ubisoft offers a free-to-play shooter which is very successful. The particularity of this title is that it integrates several flagship licenses from the French-speaking company. Each character is then inspired by the games Ghost Recon or Splinter Cell, as are their abilities. If the “Phantoms” faction can, for example, deploy electromagnetic shields, the “Echelons” can make themselves invisible or use infrared glasses and Sam Fisher’s gun. XDefiant therefore manages to find a nice mix between a shooting game that aims to be arcade and dynamic while adding its personal touch. If you are a fan of Ubisoft licenses, let yourself be tempted by the title which has entered its first season: new maps, new faction or even classified game modes, there is something to do!

Medal of Honor

Be careful, because we are tackling a big piece. How can we not mention Medal of Honor when we talk about alternatives to Call of Duty? Considered its oldest competitor, it is the one who greatly inspired Activision’s FPS series. In any case, this license was for several years the benchmark for shooting games, many remember the first titles which plunged us into the middle of World War II. We played soldiers of the highest decoration of the American army, the Medal of Honor, which gave its name to the game. Greatly appreciated, this franchise succeeds in immersing us in armed conflicts thanks to sound design and stunning visuals for the time, even drawing inspiration from films like We have to save the soldier Ryan.
