Jaxaay, (Keur Massar) June 27 (APS) – The President of the Republic calls on the populations to mobilize massively for the success of the second national human investment day, scheduled for July 6, the minister said on Thursday. of Hydraulics and Sanitation, Cheikh Tidiane Dièye.

”In the same way that the populations were mobilized during the first day, the Head of State is once again calling for a similar mobilization if not more,” said Mr. Dièye, during a press briefing , organized as a prelude to this second day of investment.

“Equipped with our shovels, our rakes, our wheelbarrows, the President of the Republic calls on the population, from the youngest to the oldest, to mobilize again to clean and clear the gutters,” he said.

He stressed that the country will change with the systemic transformation project carried out by the new state authorities, if Senegalese citizens decide to support this momentum for change.

“We must be the embodiment of change, be the example of change by changing our behavior in managing our living environment,” he argued.

He reported that the President of the Republic hopes that the next investment day will be better organized than the first, that “we will do better in terms of waste collection and cleaning of gutters.”

”He (president) also hopes that in terms of community and citizen mobilization, that we do better than the first day. He calls on people to mobilize more in all the communes of Senegal,” he further underlined.

The minister indicated that a young champion was distinguished and awarded for his dedication and commitment to cleaning up his neighborhood, during the first day of investment. His name is Serigne Mbaye, known as Cheikh Mbacké, a young Senegalese aged 29, living in Colobane in Dakar.

“We saw him enter the gutters in the Colobane district, without equipment, without protective gloves to unblock the sanitation works. This young man honored the national flag and all of Senegal during this day,” he testified before offering cleaning equipment to this young Senegalese.

Cheikh Tidiane Dièye recalled that all other ministries, the territorial administration, flood control structures, local authorities are concerned by the cleaning day.

He explained that the choice of Jaxaay to host this press point was due to the fact that this area is faced, on a day-to-day basis, with “serious sanitation problems”.

“Here the water table is flush. And our presence here is a way of telling its residents that we have not forgotten them,” he explained, announcing the construction of pipelines in this district to get through the winter.

“But we are committed that after the winter, as part of the implementation of the sanitation policies of this new government, we will come up with structural works to resolve the sanitation problems of this district and others in Dakar and Senegal,” he promised.
