Old cars and children’s dreams in Lectoure

On Sunday, June 23, a gathering of vintage cars and motorcycles brought together enthusiasts in front of the old Lectoure train station. Among them was Théo Koenders, owner of a Mini John Cooper Works convertible. “I’ve had older cars, but with this one, I can drive. And above all, my wife can drive it,” he explains. The car of his life, his childhood dream, was a 1956 Triumph TR 3 imported from the United States, fully restored and resold after 6 years because it was unsuitable for long distances. Théo Koenders found its buyer after 13 years… but the buyer didn’t want to part with it.

Patrick Déchamp, owner of a 1959 Triumph TR3, was part of a club in the Grenoble region. In Lectoure, he has just created Voitures Anciennes Lectoure Garonne (VALG) with his friend François-Xavier Roux. A first gathering took place two months ago. “It was an unexpected success. There are a lot of owners and enthusiasts in the region,” he notes, “we have 35 members and new members were added this morning.” He added: “We were approached by the Lectoure town hall and we are going to be involved in quite a few events and outings with our cars from now on.” Information by email ([email protected]).
