Other new features of the next Apple CarPlay surface

A few weeks ago, we informed you of some new features concerning the next generation of Apple’s CarPlay integration system, which has been found with vehicles on the market for almost 10 years already.

Yesterday, we learned some other interesting things about the next version that Apple is preparing, which has been dangling the arrival of the latter for two years already. This time, it’s The Verge site which tells us more about some of the features of the upcoming application.

The first thing that catches your attention is that the system is only going to work wirelessly. On board certain vehicles, it is still necessary to physically connect it; this will no longer be necessary, according to The Verge.

The second element, we mentioned it in our first news concerning the evolution of the system, is that Apple CarPlay will be able to be displayed on screens other than that of the vehicle’s multimedia system (on the central console), if the manufacturer allows it, of course.

This means, for example, that the screen in front of the driver and which displays driving information can also be supported by Apple CarPlay. It will be possible to configure everything to find the desired information. In one of the photos shared, we even see the image of an album linked to the musical piece that was selected.

You will have noticed that in this photo, we can see a steering wheel bearing the Aston Martin logo. And on another, it is that of Porsche which is clearly visible. The two manufacturers will be the first to integrate the new generation of Apple CarPlay.

On the Porsche dashboard, we can see that the system is present on all three screens of the vehicle, including the one in front of the passenger seat.

What this means is that the system is going to have access to vehicle data to be able to display things like speed or other information.

Apple Carplay functions will also be divided into different user interface levels. The first will take care of the information contained on the phone, but which can be sent to different screens in the car, such as a Spotify playlist or a map for navigation.

A second level of user interface can be managed directly in the vehicle, for example the indicator display and the odometer. A third interface level, local, will control the gauges, the appearance of which can be personalized by manufacturers. There will be some harmony in the display, however, as Apple will continue to use the San Francisco display font.

Manufacturers worried about giving too much room and control to Apple CarPlay could also benefit from a fourth UI level, this time to manage their own interface.

Of course, it will be necessary to see what form all this will take and testing a model equipped with it will be necessary for a more complete evaluation. One thing is certain, we will have to expect a response from Google and Android Auto.

In these times when some manufacturers are leaving Apple CarPlay and Android Auto aside, we also learned, via a study, that one in three consumers would consider not choosing a model that does not offer one of these applications when renewing their vehicle. his vehicle.

One thing is certain, with the next generation of CarPlay, Apple is managing to remain very relevant and popular.
