He created the bicycle and motorcycle museum, inside the Château de Bosc, planted in the middle of its vineyards. From now on, Claude Reynaud, a former winemaker, is investing in the open air. He had machines designed by Leonardo da Vinci manufactured in Italy to install them in the castle gardens.

The most famous representation of the ideal proportions of the human body, called the Vitruvian Man, opens the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition. Under the cedars, in the heart of the vineyards, some of its machines are reproduced strictly identically by Italian scientific artisans.

Be careful with the “Mechanical Drum”, no nails or nuts purchased in a DIY store! “For example, here, the ropes are not commercially purchased ropes. They are twisted, heated, stretched leather strips,” explains Claude Reynaud who initiated the exhibition.

A “Mechanical Drum” designed in 1498, but which was never manufactured by Leonardo da Vinci.

We now know that it could work. It is a drum which was intended for the army. It was an automatic drum, which was pulled by a horse and the whole in motion made a terrible noise supposed to frighten the enemy“, he continues.

Leonardo da Vinci was a child born out of wedlock. Custom therefore forbade him from studying at university. His father placed him with a sculptor, and it was in Verrocchio’s workshop that the young teenager learned and put into practice various technical skills.

For me, he is the greatest genius in the history of humanity, even today there is no equivalent. Today, we have very great scientists, great mathematicians, but he, in addition to being all that, he was an artist“, explains the enthusiast.

Today, even if Elon Musk could go to Mars, he never made the Mona Lisa and he will never make a work of art of that level!

Catapult, self-supporting bridge, helicopter, parachute, assault tank… These inventions and war machines often responded to orders from kings – such as Louis VII – or princes who needed modern equipment.

At the back of the castle, the route even reveals fake news: it was not Leonardo da Vinci who invented the ancestor of the bicycle, in reality, the sketch found is not from his time. But whatever.

Engineer, inventor, he’s someone who is in every sense and that really amazed me!” exclaims this English tourist.

Here, many things are exhibited, redone in an original way. It makes me want to pay more attention to Leonardo, to read a little about what he did“, confirms her husband.

The exhibition at Chateau de Bosc in Domazan is open every day in the summer from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
