Launched a little over a year ago, the Apple Pay Later service is already bowing out. But don’t be too sad, this split payment system, available only in the United States, will in fact be replaced by a new service integrated directly into Apple Pay, and available in several countries (but not in France).
Apple Pay Later will not have lasted very long. Last week, the manufacturer unveiled a new split payment service integrated into the panel. Apple Pay ; as expected, it replaces Apple Pay Later, which was unveiled during the 2022 edition of WWDC, and launched in the United States in March 2023.

“ From the end of this year, users around the world will be able to access split loans via credit and debit cards (…) when paying with Apple Pay », Explains a spokesperson to 9to5Mac. “ With the launch of the new global lending offering, we will no longer offer Apple Pay Later in the United States “. This installment payment service with bank cards will be offered in Spain (with CaixaBank), the United Kingdom (HSBC, Monza), the United States (Citi, Synchrony) and Australia (ANZ).
Current customers with an Apple Pay Later loan will not be exempt from paying their credit to completion (that would be so nice!) from the Cards app, no change here. This service made it possible to obtain a loan of between $50 and $1,000 to be paid in four installments, without fees or interest.
The disappearance of Apple Pay Later probably has to do with the end of the partnership with Goldman Sachs, announced last November. It was the bank that lent its money to Apple users wishing to take out a split credit (it is also the kingpin of Apple Card).
