new Samsung devices welcome AI functions

Samsung is focusing on artificial intelligence and continuing to integrate it into its products. The Galaxy S24s are the symbol of this shift in the era of mobile AI from the South Korean giant. They will soon no longer be the only ones since Samsung will bring Galaxy AI to its connected watches. In a press release, the brand explains that it wants “give a new dimension to its well-being features”. Artificial intelligence supports the watch and the Samsung Health application, with the promise of well-being experiences “very personalized and secure”.

With AI, Samsung announces new features such as Energy score. Its role is to provide a clear vision of your daily state of fitness by combining the measurements collected by the Galaxy Watches. Galaxy AI will be able to rely on the duration and regularity of sleep, the regularity of bedtime/wake-up time, the activity of the day before or even the heart rate during sleep and the variant of the heart rate.

In addition, Galaxy Watch wearers will have Well-being advice to encourage and support them in achieving their goals.

AI for better monitoring

Besides the functions, the manufacturer promises more precise data thanks to AI. An interesting element since we are touching here on one of the flagship functionalities of connected watches. Most smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch, collect and use a lot of health data and Samsung rightly explains that “accurate and complete measurements are essential”. The manufacturer claims to have improved its AI sleep algorithm to offer in-depth analytics.

New indicators of Sleep score provide a more detailed analysis of sleep quality. They take into account movements during sleep, duration of falling asleep, heart rate and respiratory rate during sleep. Added to this are previously supported measurements such as snoring times, blood oxygen level and sleep cycle.

Finally, the integration of Galaxy AI into Galaxy Watches brings new fitness features. “Smart” fitness metrics will provide more personalized training, such as “state-of-the-art equipment” if we believe Samsung. The firm mentions new detailed measurements of heart rate zones in aerobic and anaerobic thresholds to improve running. Cyclists can now perform a 10-minute FTP stress test, but also access a power index based on the analysis carried out by the AI. Finally, it becomes possible to follow your progress with the Workout Routinest which combines different exercises for a personalized workout.

Waiting for the Galaxy Ring

Samsung’s announcement is not insignificant and the firm is preparing the ground before its major summer conference. The South Korean group is due to unveil new folding smartphones, but also watches and a connected ring. “By extending the power of Galaxy AI across our entire ecosystem, we are unlocking possibilities with connected, optimized experiences that provide users with greater personalization and intelligence.”, specifies Junho Park, vice president and head of the Galaxy Ecosystem Product Planning team within the MX activity at Samsung Electronics. The manager confirms that the arrival of Galaxy AI on Galaxy Watch “is just the beginning” and that new features arrive in the Samsung ecosystem.

All these new features will be deployed with One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5. The update will arrive later in the year, but a beta will appear in June. Its deployment will therefore arrive after the release of the Galaxy Watch7 and the program concerns all Samsung watches under Wear OS. The list includes the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Watch 5, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, Galaxy Watch 6, and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
