The Corsair HS65 Surround is a wired gaming headset that has a smooth, rather flexible plastic headband equipped with memory foam. The earcup supports offer adjustment in all directions, which improves comfort. We therefore have a helmet that is pleasant to wear and which will not put too much pressure on the skull during games. Let’s add to this the earcups, again with memory foam, which very correctly encompass the pinna of the ears, which also helps to immerse yourself in a bubble and to properly isolate yourself from surrounding noise.
The headset is also equipped with a classic jack cable which we found a little too short. We are also entitled to a USB sound card which gives access to some additional features via the Corsair iCue driver: we are thus entitled to a 10-band equalizer with some presets or even to the SoundID function, which allows you to automatically personalize the sound reproduction HS65 Surround based on user preferences.
Pleasant surround sound
On the audio front, the Corsair H65 Surround proves quite convincing: its 50mm neodymium drivers can deliver flattering sound, although not very balanced. Fortunately, the equalizer is there to correct the situation if necessary. But let’s remember that this headset is not intended to be used solely for music listening, which is more demanding: for gaming, the sound performance is completely satisfactory. We can also benefit from good stereophony which allows good localization of the origin of the sounds, and this is what we ask of it above all.
Moreover, let’s not forget that the Corsair HS65 Surround benefits from spatialization of sound thanks to multi-channel Dolby Audio, which extends the soundstage while improving the immersion and localization of each sound. Please note, Dolby Audio sound is only available with iCue software on PC and Mac. It is therefore unfortunately not possible to enjoy it on console. Finally, regarding the microphone, which is not removable, it is very effective: your teammates will hear you perfectly and the exchanges will therefore be very fluid.
