One of them was captured and relayed on the social network naked eye.
Storm chaser Quentin Rey also shared a particularly clear photo of these northern lights on X.
The X account of the Météo Centre-Val de Loire association, for its part, published a series of photos captured in the region.
A phenomenon visible in the northern hemisphere
These northern lights, linked to the arrival in the Earth’s magnetic field of particles emitted by a recent solar flare, were visible in many countries. For example, the German Meteorological Institute released a photo of the Northern Lights
His American counterpart did the same, sharing a photo taken in New York.
This particularly spectacular phenomenon (especially when captured with a camera paused for a long time) is likely to become more and more frequent in the coming months, with the sun arriving at a peak of activity which makes solar flares more more and more frequent.
