This Thursday, a sectoral working meeting was held at the headquarters of the governorate of Bizerte, aiming to monitor the progress of the project to supply natural gas to the region, while resolving several technical issues encountered.

The governor of Bizerte, Salem Ben Yaacoub, insisted on the urgency of accelerating the execution of all technical, administrative and land aspects of the project, in order to meet the expectations of citizens, investors and companies wishing to establish in the region. The objective is to strengthen local development and improve economic relations at the national and international level.

The meeting brought together several officials, including the secretary general of the governorate, Lobna Obeid, the project manager Belkacem Oulad Ahmed, the president and general director of the Société Tunisienne des Autoroutes, Sihem Ben Sultan, the head of the Bizerte branch of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company, Anis Saidi, as well as the director of the Regional Equipment Administration, Yamen Chehi, and the head of the Bizerte branch of the Tunisian Highways Company, Mohamed Dhib.

The total cost of the project is estimated at 132 million dinars. It will supply 14 municipalities in the region with natural gas. The first phase of the project, which connects the El Mabtouh area to Utique, passing through the municipalities of Zarzouna, Menzel Jemil, El Alia, Ras Jebel and Ghar El Melh, is expected to be completed by the end of December 2024. As for the second phase, which concerns the areas of Jdida, Mateur, Menzel Bourguiba, Bizerte Sud and Bizerte , has already reached a progress rate of 65%.
