After the Xiaomi 14 and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, here are finally the more accessible versions of the Chinese manufacturer’s flagship, the 14T and the 14T Pro.

This year, Xiaomi wants to highlight the importance of its strategic partnership with Leica, promising high-end quality photos, even at night.

However, the main announcement, in addition to smartphones, is the arrival of AI in HyperOS. Will this be enough to stand out from ever more aggressive competition, which, above all, has already deployed its artificial intelligence solutions?

Common lines, fewer curves

The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro use the design codes of the Xiaomi 14. This is mainly reflected in the square optical block, still as prominent (although a little less on the 14T).

The back of the 14T Pro is slightly curved at the edges, before joining flat titanium edges, while the 14T has a completely flat back.

The metallic design is therefore pleasant and, on the front, the very thin 1.7 mm borders give pride of place to the 6.67-inch AMOLED screen. These smartphones are also IP68 certified, which allows them to be used without too much risk at the beach, at the water’s edge or simply in the bath.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro is available in Titan Gray, Titan Blue and Titan Black.

For its part, the Xiaomi 14T offers an additional option in Lemon Green, a variant with a vegetable leather back.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14T Pro features the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, combined with an Immortalis-G720 GPU. The Xiaomi 14T, for its part, relies on the Dimensity 8300-Ultra and a Mali-G615 GPU. Technical sheets which announce good performances to be verified during our tests.

In terms of autonomy, the two smartphones both have a 5000 mAh battery. Added to this is fast charging: 67W for the Xiaomi 14T, while the 14T Pro benefits from charging at 120W.

Photo and AI in the spotlight

Xiaomi is once again highlighting its partnership with Leica, which produces the lenses and collaborates in the design of the photo part of Xiaomi smartphones. The brand recalled the opening of three research centers linked to photography in Europe, in partnership with Leica.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro model features a triple camera system, which covers five focal lengths, ranging from 15mm to 120mm. It therefore includes a 50 MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.6, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle in f/2.2, and a 50 MP telephoto lens in f/1.9.

The Xiaomi 14T, for its part, is equipped with the Sony IMX906 sensor and a main camera also of 50 MP with an aperture of f/1.7. It is accompanied by a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens in f/2.2 and a 50 MP telephoto lens in f/1.9.

The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro don’t just improve photography. They offer a complete range of AI-powered tools to make everyday life easier.

AI Interpreter helps overcome language barriers in meetings or calls, while AI Notes and AI Recorder optimize speech-to-text transcription with accurate speech recognition, perfect for those juggling multiple languages ​​or business contexts.

These tools are the result of Xiaomi’s internal development, and the calculation servers are those of Google, thus avoiding the fear of data processing in Chinese territory.

Other AI tools already known and signed by Google, such as Circle to Search, AI Eraser Pro and AI Film, are also present. The latter makes it easy to create dynamic short films.

These tools will be integrated into the 14T and 14T Pro when they launch and for the 14 and 14 Ultra by the end of the year. HyperOS 2.0, which will be available in October and will bring many other improvements, such as the long-awaited end of bloatware and other more useful functions.

Price and availability

Prices start at 799 euros for the Xiaomi 14T Pro (12 GB of Ram + 256 GB of storage space, 12+512 priced at 899 euros and 12+1T priced at 999 euros) and 649 euros for the Xiaomi 14T available only in 12 GB + 256 GB version.

They will be available from tomorrow, September 27, 2024, on the manufacturer’s website and at partner resellers.
