General Amara Camara, spokesperson for the Guinean presidency, categorically denied this Thursday the rumors circulating about alleged gunfire heard in the commune of Kaloum, where the Presidency of the Republic and the administrative and economic center are located.

According to official information, General Camara indicated, in a statement, that “on the afternoon of this Thursday, September 26, 2024, a false rumor concerning supposed gunshots at the presidency was spread both in city ​​and abroad. He stressed that this disinformation caused panic in certain areas of Kaloum and Conakry.

The statement also insisted that “these allegations are completely false and have been completely fabricated.” The spokesperson thus invited the inhabitants of Conakry to continue their daily activities normally. Some sources reported possible exchanges of fire around the Mohammed V Palace, the seat of the presidency located in Boulbinet, near a presidential guard camp, but these statements have not been verified.
