The Berlin cult series “Liebling Kreuzberg” is being continued as a feature film with “Kanzlei Favoriten Kreuzberg”. Are there any familiar faces there?

This makes the hearts of fans of the Berlin cult series “Liebling Kreuzberg” beat faster: After the format was shown on television from 1986 to 1998, it is now returning with “Kanzlei Favoriten Kreuzberg”. The first shows the feature film this Friday, September 27th, at 8:15 p.m.

The sequel makes reference to the classic series in that the two women who are now the focus have a personal connection to Robert Favoriten. Robert Favoriten was portrayed by the popular actor Manfred Krug for 13 years and was the face of the legal series. The star died in 2016

The two unlikely new protagonists are university graduate Lisa Favoriten (Luise von Finckh) and Dr. Dr., who has a doctorate in law. Talia Jahnka (Gabriela Maria Schmeide). Jahnka took over the law firm from Robert Favoriten years ago and made it financially successful. But now favorite idealistic granddaughter Lisa wants to continue where her grandfather left off.

Against this background, screenwriter Andrej Sorin and director Franziska Margarete Hoenisch tell legal cases on the topics of equality, justice and humanity.

When asked by ARD, the Berlin actress said about the big footsteps that Luise von Finckh is following in with this role: “At the time I accepted the role, I wasn’t aware of the huge legacy I was taking on. That’s what happened to me during the filming itself and to the many “I have become aware of questions from my colleagues. Above all, I feel honored and very grateful that I can follow in the footsteps of this great artist and activist.” She added: “Of course I hope that viewers will enjoy a second favorite – a favorite of the 21st century.”

In addition to new additions, there is also a reunion: Roswitha Schreiner was already part of “Liebling Kreuzberg” and is returning after more than 30 years as Robert’s daughter Sarah Favoriten in the feature film revival. “I saw the idea of reviving ‘Liebling Kreuzberg’ as a small homage to Manfred Krug, the way it was structured. All the nostalgia spontaneously surprised me in a positive way. I hope the audience sees it the same way and feels the same way inspire,” she enthuses.

She doesn’t reveal much about the difference between the series and the film, but does divulge a little: “I was very pleased with what the author and the editors came up with so that the ‘Favorite Kreuzberg’ viewer from back then also got their money’s worth today comes.”

Also taking part is the actor and this year’s jungle camp participant Winfried Glatzeder. He can be seen in a supporting role as a client who has fallen out of time. Like Manfred Krug, the TV star was one of the most famous stars of GDR cinema in the 1970s.

The original series took place in what was then an urban Berlin neighborhood and was not only popular with audiences, but also successful at award ceremonies. In 1989, an episode was awarded the “DAV Television Press Prize” from the German Lawyers’ Association.

Heinz Schirk, director of the first episodes, idea creator Jurek Becker and lead actor Manfred Krug received the renowned Adolf Grimme Gold Prize in 1987 for the third episode “The Protector”. In 1988 the entire series was awarded silver with the Adolf Grimme Prize.
