After having disappeared since September 23, 2023, Lina was found dead, in Nièvre, as announced on Wednesday October 16, 2024 by the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office. On the day of her disappearance, Lina was walking to the Saint-Blaise-la-Roche station to take a train to meet her boyfriend, Tiago, in Strasbourg.
No one has heard from him since, and many hypotheses and rumors were made during his disappearance. So much so that Lina’s mother publicly asked that everyone keep their assumptions to themselves so that justice can do its work, as relayed by Le Parisien on Friday February 2, 2024. : “It’s terrible on a daily basis, I think all the time, I analyze, I make hypotheses.”
Laborious research carried out by investigators in the context of the case
Despite painstaking searches, Lina’s body was found after 390 days. The teenager was found in Nièvre, as announced on Wednesday October 16, 2024 by the Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office.
The study of the route of Samuel Gonin, the main suspect in Lina’s disappearance, made it possible to delimit a search area for investigators. The Strasbourg public prosecutor’s office subsequently allowed the car to be geolocated “at this location on September 24, 2023”, the day after the disappearance of the teenager. And while those close to Lina have, since the announcement of her death, remained very discreet, the show Sept à Huit gave the floor to her cousin.
Lina’s cousin paid tribute to her
In the show Sept à Huit dece Sunday October 20, a most moving sequence was shared. Louane, Lina’s cousin, did not wish to testify physically, but shared a farewell letter to TF1 journalists, who thus revealed it.
Lina’s cousin wrote to her like this : “Lina, I had hope. A Christmas spent without you, then a birthday. I dreamed of you being there by my side. […] This October 16, 2024, was a school day for me. And there, I receive messages: ‘Louane, courage, stay strong’. I will never forget these words. It’s confirmed, you were no longer with us. Now you are an angel who has ascended to heaven. You are at peace and you watch over us, my precious star. I love you so much”, she wrote.
