Who says new year, says new ranking of the French's favorite personalities. A list full of surprises where, among political leaders, Jordan Bardella notably occupies first place.
The RN comes first. According to the ranking of the French's favorite political figures, unveiled by the JDD this Sunday, January 5, the National Rally is the political party which garners the most support from public opinion. This is evidenced by the first two places occupied by two central party officials.
Jordan Bardella
President of the National Rally since 2021, Jordan Bardella led the RN to inflict a crushing defeat on President Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance during the European elections in June.
Only 29 years old, Jordan Bardella was able to attract the sympathy of younger voters. Thanks in particular to his various appearances in the media, on television but also to his strong presence on social networks.
Marine Le Pen
President of the RN group in the National Assembly, Marine Le Pen often presents herself as an alternative to traditional parties which she accuses of being disconnected from the realities of the people.
She is also appreciated for defending the animal cause. For last Christmas, she surprised her Instagram subscribers by posting a video of herself with her cat in front of her Christmas tree.
Philippe de Villiers
Retired from politics since 2009, the creator of Puy du Fou, was in the spotlight this year with the release of his book Mémoricide (ed. Fayard). A week after its publication, on October 30, 2024, the royalist managed to climb to the top of the best book sales established by Edistat at the beginning of November.
It was notably ahead of the last volume of Blake and Mortimer or even “The Maid” by Freida McFadden. In Mémoricide, Philippe de Villiers talks about his childhood memories and the politician he was.
Bruno Retailleau
Minister of the Interior since September 21, 2024 in the government of Michel Barnier, then in that of François Bayrou, Bruno Retailleau is often described as a simple man close to citizens. In particular, he refused the ministerial apartment, which he considered too large, preferring more modest accommodation. Like Philippe de Villiers, he is originally from Vendée (Cholet), and is also attached to his roots and his values.
François Ruffin
French MP but also journalist and director, François Ruffin is considered a committed MP, often in the field, and who is not content to stay in institutions. He knows how to use the media to draw attention to issues that are important to him. His arrival at the National Assembly in a football jersey to denounce precariousness in sport in 2017 also struck people's minds.
For his part, Emmanuel Macron lost eight places in the ranking and reached 6th place. Gabriel Attal occupies 7th place ahead of Edouard Philippe, 8th and Jean-Luc Mélenchon, 9th. Gérald Darmanin moves up to 13th place.
